HOMEOPATHY.
 |
Homeopathy was developed by Samuel Hahnemann,
a German M.D. in 1810. At that time conventional, allopathic
medical treatment consisted mainly of purgatives,
bleeding, blistering plasters, herbal preparations and emetics
which were used in an unscientific, unorganized, and irrational
way, causing more harm than good. |
Homeopathy follows the
doctrine of similars, i.e., "like cures like."For example, in an
acute situation, if a patient develops symptoms, s/he will be given
a pill with an an extremely dilute amount of a substance that
will cause those same symptoms in a healthy person, thus
stimulating the body's natural innate ability to heal itself. The
body knows what to do, it may just need to be
reminded. . |

 |
In a chronic situation many factors and aspects
of the patient's mental, physical, and emotional life are
considered in chosing the appropriate remedy. As the patient moves
through stages of recovery, the remedy may be changed or adjusted to fit his or her current
situation |
