Hydrotherapy as a form of treatment for human
ills and injuries developed from watching injured or sick wild
animals soak themselves in cool streams or mineral springs day
after day until healed. An early study on the subject was published
by Dr. John Floyer, an English doctor, in 1697. Naturopaths
have combined hydrotherapy with herbal medicine, homeopathy, and
diet to cure a great many previously considered "incurable"
diseases and conditions.
