MANIPULATIVE THERAPIES

Manipulative medicine benefits the circulation of the blood which brings nourishment to all cells of the body and carries away the waste products of metabolism. It improves the flow of lymph which is closely connected with the cardiovascular circulatory system and plays an important role in the immune function fighting disease. It can correct and enhance the circulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) which bathes the neurons of the brain and spinal column and spinal nerves. It can promote proper function of regulatory substances, hormone and enzymes. When blood, lymph, CSF, endocrines, enzymes, and energy are all flowing properly the body is better able to achieve and maintain a condition of good health.

On this page are some manipulative therapies that help fight various infections.

Unlike the cardiovascular circulatory system, the lymph system has no pump to move the fluid through the body. It relies on the movements of skeletal muscles and internal organs to push it through the ducts and nodes. This is severely compromised in the bedridden or sedentary patient. Manual lymphatic pumping can be of great benefit to move immune cells to where they need to work.

Rib raising helps mobilize the ribs and move stubborn mucous from the lungs. It is particularly important in the bedridden patient, the comatose patient, and the patient with pneumonia or other respiratory infection.

A series of gentle moves in the sinus drainage technique will relieve sinus cogestion and sinus headache, as well as help remove infectious material from the body.
